Success Intelligence

Before you dedicate your life
to a person, a marriage, a family;
to a corporation, a political party,
a peace campaign;
to a religion, a revolution, a
spiritual path;
make one other dedication first.
First dedicate yourself to LOVE.
Decide to let Love be your
intention, your purpose and
your point.
And then let Love inspire you,
support you, and guide you
in every other dedication
you make thereafter.

Robert Holden

Vision statement of The Happiness Project

It is because the world is so full of suffering,
that your happiness is a gift.
It is because the world is so full of poverty,
that your wealth is a gift.
It is because the world is so unfriendly,
that your smile is a gift.
It is because the world is so full of war,
that your peace of mind is a gift.
It is because the world is in such despair,
that your hope and optimism is a gift.
It is because the world is so afraid,
that your love is a gift.

Quote of the day - 9.20.10

“I am always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught.” – Winston Churchill

Pet Poetry

Oh wisdom
in your fur coat
and whiskers.
What don't you know?
Sometimes I believe
I have seen my soul searched
in your eyes,
how much time passes
between us without word?
How much do you know
that I've just begun
to understand?
Spirit of grace
and humor
on all fours.

Come Home

A Dharma poem about finding whatever you need to be happy right here...in yourself.

Come Home

Come home now my dear,
come home and rest.
Yes, yes sweet one,
I’ve seen your brave questing into the future,
your tireless forays into the past.
But hush now, you can stop your restless searching for love is right here.

Fall into its sweet heaviness,
like the honey drunk bee surrenders
under the weight of its sun dust of pollen.
Into the deep cup of the rose, let go.
Be buoyed in the flow of the warm wave salt home,
you never truly left.
Be still
be at peace
just rest now,
love is here.

- Ellen Tannen

There is a Brokenness

Here's my favorite Dharma poem again. It's just so beautiful and affecting.

There is a brokenness
out of which comes the unbroken,
a shatteredness
out of which blooms the unshatterable.
There is a sorrow
beyond all grief which leads to joy
and a fragility out of whose depths emerges strength.

There is a hollow space
too vast for words
through which we pass with each loss,
out of whose darkness
we are sanctioned into being.

There is a cry deeper than all sound
whose serrated edges cut the heart
as we break open to the place inside
which is unbreakable and whole,
while learning to sing.
